Imbolc

As cold winters icy claw grasps us in hesitation, green shoots appear giving hope and signs of the first stirrings of spring.

The long slumber is nearly over and we wait in anticipation for the festival of the maiden who breathes life across the land, gently thawing the earth to aid growth and freeing us of the desperation of long cold nights as the light increases.

We salute the glorious Goddess Brighid, she enters our darkness bringing her abundant light and new life to spread her blessings over the land. She enters our ritual wearing a crown of candles for she brings light and healing and well being to all who worship her.

Brighid is still honoured today by pagans all over the world. The Celtic Goddess is the daughter of the Dagda and Morrighan of the Tuatha de Denaan. She is associated with divination and prophecy, swans and of the hearth and home. She is the fiery arrowed one and patron of poetry, bards and healing.

“Stay with us until the wheel turns
And the fruits ripen.
That we may celebrate your presence throughout the year.
We welcome you Brighid”
