FAQs

What Is The Spiral Labyrinth?

The Spiral Labyrinth is a coven based near Leeds in West Yorkshire, practising and teaching the ways of traditional witchcraft. We are the Second Temple of the Fellowship of the Faun and the Sixth Temple of the Green Man, with teachings that date back to at least the dawn of the twentieth century.

What Is Traditional Witchcraft?

The ways of the craft have their origins in our ancient ancestors, at a time when we lived and survived on the gifts of nature, we celebrated and praised the bounty of the Lord and Lady, giving thanks for the harvest or season or before a hunt with offerings and rituals of thanks. Our festivals of Imbolc, Beltaine, Lammas and Samhain are of upmost importance agriculturally to ensure the best for that season. Witches also believe in the power of magic, and have a strong desire to protect nature by working with the ebb and flow of natural energies within and around us, thus making us more connected with mother nature.

Why Should I Join A Coven?

When you join our coven, as opposed to being a solitary witch, you enter a friendly and supportive community of like minded people; you also get the opportunity to share in the natural energy that we raise and harness, which can greatly enhance your magic and your journey within the craft.

Is Witchcraft Suited To The 21st Century?

The practice of witchcraft is as old as humanity itself, as we tap into the primitive and powerful energies and beliefs within us. On the other hand, witchcraft is very modern too, as there has never been a time more suited to our message: one of tolerance, love, and respect for nature and all its creatures. We give belief to our members, and rather than telling them what not to do, as many established religions do, we tell them to have confidence in their own powers and use them wisely. Witchcraft is liberating rather than proscriptive or prudish, and that’s one reason why it’s becoming increasingly popular with people of all ages, and from all backgrounds.

Are You Naked In Your Rites?

Yes, we are indeed naked or sky clad during some of the energy work we do. Casting off our everyday clothes and putting on our glamour (robes) gets us in a mindset to do the work that witches do. Being naked is natural, as we were born that way, and this helps us rid our sense of self or outer image we project to others, thus aiding us to connect to the energy and frequencies within and around us.
